Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited KS&EW is a Government of Pakistan defense and military contracting company located at West Wharf, Karachi, Sindh.
KSEW Limited is Pakistan’s oldest shipyard providing shipbuilding, ship repair and general heavy industry equipment. It has built several cargo ships, oil tankers, tugboats, support ships, landing craft, ships and submarines for the Pakistan Navy.
It also builds and repairs Pakistan National Shipping Company, Karachi Port Trust, Qasim Port Authority and a wide range of private sector clients in Pakistan. All the shares of this company belong to the Government of Pakistan and it is under the control of the Ministry of Defence.
The company was established in the mid-50s as a project of the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC). In 1336, the company was established as a joint stock company with a board of directors and a CEO.
It has a large shipbuilding hall, three production area blocks, three shipbuilding docks, two dry docks, a machine shop, gravel and painting facilities, a marine elevator with a capacity of 7,881 tonnes, a transfer system and 13 parking stations.
